Melinda Kramer is an accomplished social entrepreneur, environmental advocate, and nonprofit founder and director. She has worked around the world at the intersection of environmental sustainability, women’s economic development, and gender justice. In 2005, she and her colleagues set out to bridge the resource gap for grassroots women tackling our world’s most critical environmental and climate challenges. What began as a small convening of 30 women climate leaders from 26 countries grew into Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA), a 18-year organization and thriving global network, elevating the critical work of 25,000 grassroots women environmental entrepreneurs and climate leaders. WEA has been recognized as a top non-profit in the Huffington Post in the field of entrepreneurship, awarded a United Nations Association Global Citizen Award, and has been featured in publications like GRIST, Ms. Magazine, the Huffington Post, Regeneration, and Jane Fonda’s climate book What Can I Do. Melinda is a co-founder of the Global Women’s Water Initiative and serves on the board of Project Regeneration and Planet Women. She is also an Ambassador in Oxfam’s Sisters on the Planet Initiative.

About The Series

Bioneers is excited to announce a series of special events for the Bay Area leading up to the April 2023 Bioneers Conference, taking place for the first time in the East Bay. Many are familiar with the annual Bioneers Conference, which has had a variety of homes in the Bay Area, most recently in San Rafael, CA. We’re excited to be hosting Bioneers in Berkeley this year, where it will take place between Zellerbach Hall in the mornings and throughout downtown Berkeley in the afternoons.

This series of highly curated lead-up events include film screenings, lectures, discussions and panels that will resonate with the Bioneers community and the extended environmental, political and social justice communities.  These events will build community, momentum and serve as an exciting launchpad for Bioneers 2023!
